Making a child listen to you is not a Hercules task. Indeed, the way in which we handle a situation and make the child understand the various aspects is something that can be done easily if you know the right way. How to punish a child for bad behavior?

 

In case a child is showing bad behavior, the best way to discipline them would be to listen to them for the way they behave. Punishment and discipline never need to be physical. This would instill in them a wrong sense of negative reinforcement, which is not good in the long run. Whenever they show bad behavior, make them sit and understand that there can be consequences. Tell them that if they do something wrong, there would indeed be some way they would be made to realize the wrong they did.   • Timing-out strategies which includes, giving the space to the child to be alone in a space to have self-realistion for the wrong they did. Tell them they didnot behave good and this is a chance to start over. 

 

How to stop hitting your child?

 

There are various alternatives to stop hitting the child and making them listen to you, which are:

 

  • Try to get someone involved so that they child will know if they did something wrong, there is a third person who would be there to rectify. 

 

  • Always reinforce the positive behaviour they show to help them channel themselves in right direction to prevent hitting them.
